Brian Justine, Director Background: Founder and president of the THBA. Responsible for bringing the THBA to the South Florida Market. Founder and Director of Heat Travel Baseball. A local product, Justine is a 1995 graduate of W.T. Dwyer High School. Went on to play collegiately at Broward CC , Florida International University, and the University of New Orleans. A two- time draft choice of the Detroit Tigers, Justine played two seasons of minor league baseball following a solid college career. Graduated from F.I.U. with a degree in Sports Management. Justine also holds a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Manhattan College. Justine was an original member of Roger Dean Stadium's operations staff in 1999. He also taught elementary school for five years. Justine has coached teams and players at every level of baseball, serving as an assistant coach under Kevin Leighton at Manhattan College in 2008. Justine most recently served as Hall of Famer Gary Carter's Assistant Coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University where he oversaw the Sailfish pitching staff. After his first season with the team in 2010, the Sailfish pitching staff made dramatic improvements not only in the win column but with some other impressive statistical improvements as well. After a 10-win season in 2009, Palm Beach Atlantic improved to 17 wins in 2010 including a winning home record after notching only one home win in 2009. A big part of the improvement of the PBA baseball program came with the focus and attention of Justine on the Sailfish hurlers. After registering a team earned-run average of 8.05 in 2009, the PBA pitchers dropped nearly three runs a game to their ERA by improving to 5.82 in 2010. Opposing hitters found it more difficult to put consistent swings against the Sailfish in 2010 evidenced by the drop in opposing hitters batting average of .346 in 2009 to .301 in 2010. Justine is also co-producer of Ultimate Infield with Perry Hill, one of the best instructional videos on the market. Brian is available for private instruction and can be reached at 561-339-1304 or brian_justine@thuttbaseball.com |
